Cookie policy
Short version: this website asks once whether it may measure visits. Say no and nothing is stored, nothing is loaded, and the site works exactly the same. Say yes and Google Analytics is switched on. You can change the answer at any time from the footer.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, so that it can recognise your browser on a later request. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, tracking pixels, browser fingerprinting — do comparable things without necessarily using a cookie file. This policy covers all of them.
What this website uses
Nothing, until you say otherwise. On your first visit this site stores and loads nothing that identifies you. It asks whether it may switch on analytics, and it obeys the answer.
By default, and always if you decline, nordicalpha.eu:
- sets no cookies of its own and no third-party cookies;
- loads no fonts, scripts or images from third-party servers. Typefaces are self-hosted on our own domain, so no font provider is told that you visited;
- embeds no social media widgets, no advertising and no third-party video players;
- runs no advertising or retargeting pixels — no Meta Pixel, no ad networks, no profiles sold on — whatever you answer.
If you accept: Google Analytics 4
Only then is Google Analytics loaded, from googletagmanager.com, and only then are these cookies written to your device:
_ga- Tells one browser apart from another, so that two page views can be counted as one visit rather than two visitors. Expires after 2 years.
_ga_DMGS7R114S- Keeps the state of your current session for the same purpose. Expires after 2 years.
What we see from it is aggregate: which pages are opened, roughly where in the world visitors are, which language version they use, and which links brought them here. We do not use it to advertise to you, we do not build a profile of you, and we have no interest in identifying you.
The processor is Google Ireland Limited, and data may be processed by Google LLC in the United States, which is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework; standard contractual clauses apply in addition. Your IP address is truncated before storage. Google keeps event data for the period configured in the property.
If you accept: Yandex.Metrica
Loaded from mc.yandex.ru at the same moment, counter 113173674; measurements are also sent to mc.yandex.com. It sets:
_ym_uid,_ym_d- Identify a returning browser and record the date of the first visit. Expire after 1 year.
_ym_isad- Notes whether an ad blocker is present. Expires after 2 days.
Session recording is switched off. Metrica’s Webvisor feature can replay how a page was used — mouse movement, scrolling and the content of the page as you saw it. We have disabled it, so no such recording is made or stored. What remains is aggregate: click maps and scroll depth, counted across all visitors rather than replayed for any one of them.
The operator is Yandex, and the data is processed on its servers, including servers in the Russian Federation. Russia has no European Commission adequacy decision, so this is a transfer to a third country made under the safeguards in Yandex’s terms. If that matters to you — and it reasonably might — decline, and nothing from Yandex is loaded or stored at all.
The <noscript> tracking pixel from Yandex’s standard installation code is deliberately not on this site. It fires before any script can ask permission, so with JavaScript turned off it would track someone who was never offered a choice.
Your choice, and how to change it
The banner offers Accept and Decline side by side, in the same size and the same weight, because a refusal that is harder to give than a consent is not freely given and does not count.
Your answer is remembered in your browser’s local storage under the key na-consent-v1. That one entry is strictly necessary: remembering “no” is what stops us asking on every page, and it needs no consent of its own. It stays on your device, and it is never sent to us or to anyone else.
To change your mind, use Cookie settings in the footer of any page. If you switch from yes to no, the analytics cookies listed above are deleted immediately and nothing further is loaded until you say otherwise. Clearing your browser’s data for this site also erases the answer, and we will ask again on your next visit.
The usual categories, for reference
So you can compare us with other sites, these are the categories a cookie notice normally has to declare — and where we stand on each.
- Strictly necessary
- Needed for a site to function — logins, shopping baskets, security. We have none, because the site has no accounts, no basket and no forms.
- Preference
- Remember choices such as language or theme. We have none; the language is chosen by the URL you visit (
/or/ru/). - Statistics / analytics
- Measure how a site is used. Google Analytics 4, and only with your consent — see above.
- Marketing
- Build a profile to target advertising. We run none, and we do not advertise using your browsing behaviour.
Our hosting provider
The site is delivered through a content-delivery and hosting network. To serve pages and to protect against attack, that provider processes standard technical request data — your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and your browser’s user-agent string — and may, in specific circumstances such as a suspected attack, set a strictly necessary security cookie. This is done to keep the site available and secure, on the basis of our legitimate interest, and is not used to profile you or to advertise to you.
How we treat that technical data is described in our Privacy Policy.
How to control cookies anyway
Even though we do not set any, you remain in control of cookies for every site you visit. Every major browser lets you view stored cookies, delete them, and block them wholly or per site:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Safari — Settings → Privacy
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking cookies entirely will not break anything on this website; you simply will not be counted.
If this ever changes
If we later add analytics or any other technology that stores or reads information on your device, we will update this page, and — where the law requires consent — ask for it through a proper consent banner before anything is set. We will not introduce tracking quietly.
